You can make the delicious chocolate cake at your home itself without any need for an oven, egg, and measuring cup, and that too in very few minutes using the idli maker. Let us know how it is.

Preparation Time: Approximately 15-20 minutes.


  • Sugar powder-3 spoons
  • Refined Oil- 3 spoons
  • Fresh Curd- 3 spoons
  • Maida Flour- 5 Spoons
  • Cocoa Powder- 1 spoon
  • Baking Powder- ⅓ spoon
  • Baking Soda- ¼ spoon
  • Milk- 7 spoons
  • Chopped Almonds-2 spoons

Cooking Process:

Step-1: First of all, take a bowl and pour the sugar powder into it. Add refined oil and curd to it. Mix well.

Step-2: Now add maida flour, baking powder, baking soda, cocoa powder, and milk to the above content and again mix well until all these ingredients mix one with another. Now it looks like a smooth chocolate liquid.

Step-3: Next add a few chopped almonds to the above mixture and mix it well again. Now the batter is ready to cook the cake.

Step-4: Take an idli plate and apply oil to the moulds. Now add 2 full spoon of batter to each mould and add a few chopped almonds to the batter decoratively.

Step-5: Take the idli maker and add salt to it. Spread the salt evenly and cover the lid on the maker. Now switch on the stove and preheat the maker for 5 minutes.

Step-6: After 5 minutes remove the lid and place an idli stand which is filled with batter inside the maker for baking.

Step-7: Now cover the lid and bake at low flame for 12 minutes. After 12 minutes remove the lid and test the cake baking using a toothpick. If no batter sticks to the toothpick, you can switch off the stove and let the cake be completely cool.

Step-8: Now demould the cake from the stand and garnish with chocolate syrup and chopped almonds. Now the tasty chocolate cake is ready to eat.

How To Make Dhokla in Idli Maker

Dhoklas can also be prepared in idli maker by following the simple steps in very less time. Let us know the process.

Preparation Time: Approximately 15-20 minutes.


  • Besan (gram flour)- 1.5 cups
  • Rava (semolina)- 2 tbsp
  • Ginger paste- ½ tsp
  • Chilli- 1 finely chopped and 3 slitted
  • Turmeric-½ tsp
  • Sugar-2 tsp
  • Hing- 2-3 pinches
  • Curd- ¼ cup
  • Oil- 5-6 tbsp
  • Salt- ½ tsp
  • Water- 3 cups
  • ENO(fruit salt)- half tsp
  • Mustard- 1 tsp
  • Cumin- ½ tsp
  • Sesame- 1 tbsp
  • Lemon Juice- 1 tsp
  • Grated Coconut- 2 tbsp
  • Coriander- 2 tbsp (finely chopped).

Cooking Process:

Step-1: Take a medium-sized glass bowl and pour besan flour and rava into it. Add ginger paste, finely chopped chilli, turmeric, 1 tsp of sugar, 1 pinch of hing, curd, oil, and salt to the glass bowl and mix well.

Step-2: Now add 1 cup of water to the above mix. Now whisk and mix until you get sure about no lumps in it. You get a smooth consistency.

Step-3: Add half a teaspoon of ENO to the above batter and mix it gently until it becomes a frothy batter. Now it has a perfect consistency.

Step-4: Apply oil to the idli plates moulds and fill the moulds with batter

Step-5: Take the idli steamer and pour some water into it. Now place the plates in it and close the lid.

Step-6: Switch on the stove and steam it for 12 minutes.

Step-7: After 12 minutes switch off the stove, remove the plates, and scrape the dhokla idli from the moulds. Now the dhokla idli is ready.

Step-8: Further take a pan, keep on the stove flame and add 2 tbsp of oil to it. Also add mustard, cumin, sesame, 1 pinch of hing, 3 slitted chillies and a few curry leaves to the pan and fry them.                                                                                                        

Step-9: When it starts spluttering, add ¼ cup of water, 1 tbsp of sugar, ¼ tsp of salt, and 1 tsp of lemon juice to the pan.

Step-10: Now stir and let it boil. The tempering is ready and this content is poured on the dhokla idli. Add grated coconut powder, and coriander to the idli. Here is the mouthwatering dhokla idli ready to serve.

Now let us see how you can prepare healthy and simple momos in idli maker.

Preparation Time: Approximately 50-60 minutes.


  • Cabbage- ½ part
  • Carrot- 1
  • Salt- 2 tsp
  • Black Pepper- 1 tsp
  • Oil
  • Maida- 1 big cup

Cooking Process:

Step-1: First cut or grate the cabbage and carrot into small slices.

Step-2: Take a Kadai and keep it on the stove flame. Add 1 tsp of oil to it and also add the grated carrot and cabbage to that and fry them for 2 minutes.

Step-3: Further, add ½ tsp of black pepper powder and salt according to your taste. Mix them and let them boil for another 2 minutes and keep them cool down.

Step-4: Now take a large bowl or plate and add 1 big cup of maida, 1 tbsp of oil, and salt as per your taste. Mix it as a chapati dough and pour a tsp of oil on it and let it rest for 20 minutes.

Step-5: After 20 minutes, it becomes a smooth dough. Now split this dough into small pieces and make balls. Next spread these balls evenly on the chapati rolling board using a rolling pin.

Step-6: Take a few vegetable mixtures and keep them on the spread dough. Now close this to the middle with small foldings using fingers. Repeat this process with all the balls.

Step-7: Next, take the idli steamer and add a little water for steaming and keep it on the stove flame.

Step-8: Now apply oil to the moulds of the idli plate and place the momos on the moulds. Further, place these plates on a steamer and boil for 15-20 minutes.

Step-9: After 20 minutes, check the momos whether they are perfectly boiled. The delicious momos along with chutney are good to serve your family.

Preparation Time: Approximately 60 minutes.


  • Onions- 2(finely chopped)
  • Chillies-2
  • Coriander- few leaves
  • Tomatoes-2
  • Simla chilli-2
  • Capsicum-1
  • Cumin- ¼ spoon
  • Rava- 1 cup
  • Salt- little
  • Curd- 3 spoons

Cooking Process:

Step-1: Take a medium-sized bowl and add a rava. Also add curd, cumin, and salt to the Rava and mix well by adding little water occasionally until it becomes a smooth dough and leave it to rest for 25 to 30 minutes aside.

Step-2: After 30 minutes, add a little water to the batter and mix well.

Step-3: Now add red shimla mirch, tomato pieces, and capsicum pieces and mix thoroughly.

Step-4: Now add finely chopped onions, coriander, and chillies to the batter. The batter is ready.

Step-5: Take idli plates, apply oil to the moulds and place 2 spoons of batter for a mould.

Step-6: Place the idli cooker on the stove and heat for 10 minutes and place the plates in it and boil it for 10 to 15 minutes at low flame. Now the tasty appe is ready to eat.

Step-7: If you want this appe to be red-coloured and crispy, you can fry them in heating oil. The fabulous appe is ready to serve.

Note: All the vegetables should not be added at a time to the batter. Add one after the other.

  • Wheat Flour- 1 cup
  • Suji- ¼ cup
  • Sugar Powder- ½ cup
  • Green Cardamom Powder- ¼ tsp
  • Coconut Powder- ¼ cup
  • Milk- ¼ cup
  • Butter/Ghee-¼ cup
  • Baking Powder- ½ tsp.

Cooking Process:

Step-1: Take a large bowl and pour butter/ghee on it. Add Sugar powder to the ghee and mix well with a spoon until the content becomes smooth and consistent.

Step-2: Add wheat flour, suji, coconut powder, cardamom powder, and baking powder to the above content and mix well.

Step-3: Now by adding a few required milk, mix the content until the dough becomes a soft texture.

Step-4: Take a whistle idli cooker and pour a little sand on it, spread evenly, and place it on the low flame stove.

Step-5: Take a piece of dough and make it into a biscuit shape. Mark the two lines perpendicular to each other, apply a little ghee on the cookie and place the almond pieces, or any other nuts on it as your wish. The same process was done for the remaining dough.

Step-6: Apply a little ghee on the idli plate moulds and place the cookie on it. Place the idli stand into the cooker and close the lid. Bake the cookies at low to medium flame for 25 minutes.

Step-7: After 25 minutes, check the cookies whether they are perfectly baked or not. Now you can surprise your children with amazing cookies.

Here is a delightful eggless cake dish which is prepared in an idli maker with simple steps and in a short period.

Preparation Time: Approximately 40- 45 minutes.


  • Wheat flour/Atta- 2 cups
  • Sugar powder- 1 cup
  • Salt- 1 pinch
  • Baking powder-½ spoon
  • Oil/Butter- ½ cup
  • Fresh Curd- 2 tbsp
  • Warm milk- 1.5 cups
  • Lemon Juice-1 tsp
  • Vanilla essence- 1 tsp
  • Baking powder-1 tsp
  • Baking soda- ½ tsp
  • Finely chopped Almonds/Kaju/Pista- few(optional)

Cooking Process:

Step-1: Here we are taking a teacup as a measuring instrument. Take a cup of milk and add lemon juice to the milk and mix well.

Step-2: Take a medium-sized bowl and add sugar powder to it. Now add curd to the powder and mix well until it gets a smooth consistency.

Step-3: Further, pour some oil into this flour, add a little salt and mix well.

Step-4:Now add vanilla essence and mix well by adding 1 cup of milk which is mixed with lemon juice.

Step-5: Next add wheat flour and mix well in a single direction.

Step-6: Add the remaining ½ cup of milk and mix thoroughly

Step-7: Add baking powder, baking soda and 2 tbsp milk and mix in a single direction slowly.

Step-8: Now take an idli cooker and pour some sand or salt and spread evenly for heating on low flame.

Step-9: Apply oil on the moulds to the idli plate and fill the moulds with a batter and add finely chopped almond/Kaju/pasta to the batter.

Step-10: Place the plates in the steamer and bake them in low to medium flame for 5 minutes and on low medium for 25 minutes.

Step-11: After completion of 30 minutes, check whether the cake is perfectly baked using the toothpick. If no batter sticks to the toothpick, you can switch off the stove and let it be cool.

Step-12: Now demould the cake from the plates and enjoy the smooth and delightful cake with your loved ones.

Note: You can use the spoon of cardamom powder according to your wish.
